Special Guardianship Orders

This is an order which confirms that a child is to live away from their parents often with extended family members. The order also provides the child’s carers with “higher” parental responsibility than the child’s parents.

We are able to give advice to parents as to what Special Guardianship means for their family. We also give advice to prospective Special Guardians as to the rights and responsibilities should an order be made and ensure there is a robust support plan to include financial support from the Local Authority placing the child.
