New partner as Oxley and Coward keeps it in the family

Rotherham solicitors Oxley and Coward are keeping it in the family with their latest appointment to their team of legal experts. When Anthony Ogley joins the firm as a Partner, he will be following in the footsteps of not only his great uncle Frank, but his father James, who was once a partner himself at Oxley and Coward during the 1980s and 1990s.

Anthony, 40, began his career at Oxley and Coward too before leaving to become an associate solicitor with Geldards LLP for two years. From here, Anthony has spent the last 24 months as an associate with Nabarro LLP, prior to making a welcome return to his roots with Oxley and Coward.

"It is great to be returning to Oxley and Coward," said Anthony when asked about his impending appointment. "Coming back here feels like coming home. My father, my great uncle and I have all worked here before and the fact that I am returning says something about Oxley and Coward. It's such a great firm, with a great history and traditions, so many friendly and experienced people; it's difficult to stay away!"

Anthony's family have strong links with Oxley and Coward, dating back over 80 years. Francis (Frank) Ogley was Anthony's great uncle and joined Oxley and Coward after leaving school. He was articled to Peter Bancroft Coward and qualified in 1930. He went on to become Senior Partner.

Anthony's father James was articled to Frank Ogley in 1960 and after qualifying in 1965, went on to follow in Frank's footsteps and became Senior Partner himself before his retirement in 2006, so now three members of the Ogley family have served as Partners with the firm - a unique family hat trick of achievement.

A resident of Sheffield, Anthony passed his post graduate diploma in law in 2001 and his legal practice course with distinction, before qualifying as a solicitor in 2004. Since then, the last six years have been spent in honing his commercial property skills.

"My areas of specialism are in the three core areas of development and site acquisition, investment sales and acquisitions and corporate support work."
explained Anthony. "At Nabarro, the emphasis was on the healthcare sector and regeneration. This involved medical centre funding, re-financing and some asset management, so I have had a pretty varied caseload."

When not at the office, his love of sports and travel takes up much of Anthony's leisure time, although as the firm's latest Partner, Anthony will rarely be away from his desk for very long!
