At Oxley & Coward Solicitors we have a specialist team which deals with all aspects of cases concerning children when social services are involved, including care proceedings and adoption.
We have specialist solicitors who are members of the Law Society's Children Panel. This means that they have been assessed independently and can deal with all cases concerning children, whether they are representing the parents, other relatives, foster carers or the children themselves. In all cases involving children the Court must always make decisions in the best of interest of the children.
Social Services involved? Are they looking at putting the child into a foster home? If you are a parent, a person with parental responsibility for a child or a relative, it is important that you are represented by solicitors who understand the way in which the Social Services Departments and the Courts work. Contact us for expert advice and representation in care proceedings including negotiations with Social workers, Case conferences and Court hearings.
Oxley & Coward Solicitors are regularly contacted by Court-appointed guardians to represent the interests of children involved in care proceedings. Instructions are taken from the child's Court-appointed guardian, or in some cases (where the child has sufficient understanding to give instructions) from the child. As in all cases of this nature, our main concern is that the best interests of the child is the focus of the proceedings
Legal aid for parent(s) (including persons with parental responsibility) - in care proceedings, Legal Aid is available as of right to those with parental responsibility, regardless of income and it is free. Other relatives who wish to put themselves forward as carers for the children may also qualify for legal aid depending on their financial position. We are happy to offer a free half-hour interview and will assess if you qualify. If you are a parent, or other person with parental responsibility for a child who is the subject of care proceedings, get in touch.
We will be pleased to help you in any Childcare matters.
